I didn’t dare hope that they would ever make a DoW3, after the collapse of Relic, but ZOMG it’s happening. I’ve been dying to see what DoW would be like with the updated Relic engine (like the one they used for Company of Heroes 2) and they’re saying they’ll bring back basebuilding? Lovelovelovelovelove.
As many of you know, I have a special place in my heart for space simulators. Recently, much of that love has gone to “Elite: Dangerous”, a space flight sim of amazing proportions. As such, I thought it would be neat to celebrate my 35th birthday by traveling to a star, in-game, that would just now be receiving the light from our sun that had been cast on the day that I was born. Thus, here is the (probably realistic) view of Sol, as seen from Zeta Herculis, a star some 34.9ly from Earth. I will almost certainly never get to experience this view in reality, but in so many ways it is still just as humbling that I am able to view it in a virtual space.
That teeny, tiny blue dot at the center? Not the white one, but that super tiny blue one. That’s not just us, that’s Earth, plus the Sun and 7 other planets. All of that, in a dot you can blot out with a needle head from a system that’s practically next door, and we think we’re so cool. Pffft.
Haus of Elle is a clothing and accessories line inspired by a dark aesthetic with a modern edge.
The new collection from Haus of Elle celebrates a strong independent style conscious individual’s sultry moods realized using superior craftsmanship and materials with bespoke artisan hand finishing techniques. All pieces are individually designed and carefully handcrafted by Lauren Roberts in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Tyler Vucinovich is a senior in the apparel design and development program at the university of Wisconsin stout. The collection, “old profession, new style” was inspired by the red light district in Amsterdam and the loose morals of the jazz age.
Kayley Johnson attended MCTC where she acquired a certificate in Apparel Technology. She transferred to Stout and studied in London through their apparel program. “Singularity” is a take on futuristic fashion, inspired by mecha armor and the neon city lights.
The CONvergence convention in Bloomington has become one of Minnesota’s biggest and 2015 was my fourteenth year in attendance. This massive gathering of the area’s nerdiest has always had a special place in my heart. Continue reading →
This exists solely because my friend Samm requested it after reading this story about future sex robots. Not to be confused with the way more awesome Futuristic Sex Robotz. Contains terrible fiction, parody and castration.
“I don’t get it. What was that thing? Why was it trying to kill me?” I screamed as we sped away. I still didn’t know the name of the mysterious crew-cut dude who was driving, but what I did know is that he had just saved my life.
“It’s a machine, called the H-1000, sent back in time to stop you from becoming the head of the Resistance, Connor.” He answered, swerving to avoid a car stopped at a red light.
“What the fuck? Seriously?” I was incredulous.
“Yes, I was being very serious.” He responded in a very serious manner.
“Does that mean you traveled back in time as well?” I asked.
“Yes. My mission is to protect you from the H-1000, hopefully destroying it in the process.”
“Okay, so are you, like, a less advanced version of that thing back there?”
“What? Like that thing? No, man. Fuck no. Jesus.” He shook his head at me with a disgusted look on his face. Continue reading →
“I think there are four great motives for writing, at any rate for writing prose. They exist in different degrees in every writer, and in any one writer the proportions will vary from time to time, according to the atmosphere in which he is living. They are:
(i) Sheer egoism. Desire to seem clever, to be talked about, to be remembered after death, to get your own back on the grown-ups who snubbed you in childhood, etc., etc. It is humbug to pretend this is not a motive, and a strong one. Writers share this characteristic with scientists, artists, politicians, lawyers, soldiers, successful businessmen — in short, with the whole top crust of humanity. The great mass of human beings are not acutely selfish. After the age of about thirty they almost abandon the sense of being individuals at all — and live chiefly for others, or are simply smothered under drudgery. But there is also the minority of gifted, willful people who are determined to live their own lives to the end, and writers belong in this class. Serious writers, I should say, are on the whole more vain and self-centered than journalists, though less interested in money.”
It was a Doctor Who/Star Trek/HHGTTG crossover in which the Fourth Doctor was traveling with Arthur Dent (as played by the guy from the original BBC series) when they were suddenly attacked by Khan and his forces, which included naked female assassins.
I should probably note that the naked female assassins totally didn’t strike Dream Drayke as being unusual, which probably means I spend entirely too much time on deviantArt and Tumblr.
I wonder what that all means? (Other than the fact that I need to learn how to make music so that I can somehow recreate the awesome theme song that played throughout the dream!)
I think a clueless Dent would make a great companion in terms of story exposition!
Khan just makes the best villain for everything.
How awesome would that episode/movie be? Feel free to write short episode synopses in the comments!
