Capaldi watches you masturbate

Fucking Brilliant

Fan-made trailer for Series 8 (Season ~36 if you’re an old man like I am) of Doctor Who. I can’t express how excited I am for the Thirteenth Doctor, I think Capaldi’s going to knock it out of the park.

“I think there …

“I think there are four great motives for writing, at any rate for writing prose. They exist in different degrees in every writer, and in any one writer the proportions will vary from time to time, according to the atmosphere in which he is living. They are:
(i) Sheer egoism. Desire to seem clever, to be talked about, to be remembered after death, to get your own back on the grown-ups who snubbed you in childhood, etc., etc. It is humbug to pretend this is not a motive, and a strong one. Writers share this characteristic with scientists, artists, politicians, lawyers, soldiers, successful businessmen — in short, with the whole top crust of humanity. The great mass of human beings are not acutely selfish. After the age of about thirty they almost abandon the sense of being individuals at all — and live chiefly for others, or are simply smothered under drudgery. But there is also the minority of gifted, willful people who are determined to live their own lives to the end, and writers belong in this class. Serious writers, I should say, are on the whole more vain and self-centered than journalists, though less interested in money.”

-George Orwell, 1946, Why I Write

I identified with this passage far more than I would ordinarily let on, but Orwell said it, so at least I’m in good company.

Summer Portrait Special

JavanStPaul

Hey Everyone!

As many of you know, I’ve had a very eventful spring working on video projects, catching up on several photo events, teaching and oh yes, getting married! My sister Carla has been similarly busy with her  music project (Geodesique), writing, school as well as being the best ma’am in my wedding. As a result, we haven’t been shooting anywhere near the FDA recommended daily dose of fun portraits!

Ordinarily we would charge a minimum of $250 for a standard portrait shoot but to celebrate summer, 4th of July and the upcoming CONvergence event, we’re lowering our portrait session prices to just $100! I don’t want to be stuck in a stuffy studio so I’m hoping to do these on-location somewhere while Carla would love to do a nice studio session with you, so we can help with just about any kind of images that you’re looking for. The only catch is that we have to schedule it between now and CON, which is 4th of July weekend, so you should contact one of us right away to get your shoot appointment on the books! If you want to see some of Carla’s work, you can see her work on Flickr or on Facebook, for mine the best places are either on one of my online portfolios (such as the one on my website) or on Facebook. Don’t be intimidated by some of the images you see in either of our portfolios, we work with people from all walks of life, from fashion models to families with kids and/or pets.

I especially want to hear from you if you happen to be a cosplayer, as I LOVE shooting cosplay! I’m a beginner cosplayer myself and I have so much fun working with those who want to capture the awesomeness of their newest work. With CONvergence and the San Diego Comic Con both coming up shortly, I know there are at least a few of you out there putting the finishing touches on your outfits and need some great photos of the whole thing!

You’ll get two hours of shooting time, all delivered images will be edited to ensure maximum quality and finish, and the completed high resolution images can be delivered either electronically or via DVD for an additional $10.

Had the coolest dream last night…

It was a Doctor Who/Star Trek/HHGTTG crossover in which the Fourth Doctor was traveling with Arthur Dent (as played by the guy from the original BBC series) when they were suddenly attacked by Khan and his forces, which included naked female assassins.

I should probably note that the naked female assassins totally didn’t strike Dream Drayke as being unusual, which probably means I spend entirely too much time on deviantArt and Tumblr.

I wonder what that all means? (Other than the fact that I need to learn how to make music so that I can somehow recreate the awesome theme song that played throughout the dream!)

I think a clueless Dent would make a great companion in terms of story exposition!

Khan just makes the best villain for everything.

How awesome would that episode/movie be? Feel free to write short episode synopses in the comments!
